Weekend Wrap-Up

Hi friends!

How is the weekend already gone?  It flew by!  But I did have a wonderful weekend.  On Saturday, I was lucky enough to celebrate the wedding of a wonderful friend and Pi Phi sister, Haley.  She looked gorgeous walking down the isle in the Spanish Garden at Hotel Abq.

It was so much fun to celebrate with so many Pi Phi sisters.  Here are most of the Pi Phis at the wedding, but there are a couple missing.

On Saturday, I tried out a new lipstick.  It is Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Love That Red.  I have been trying to up my lipstick game this summer.  I typically am a lip gloss girl.  And lately I am loving a bold lip color.  So I did some research, grew up a bit, and am trying out lipstick.

Here is a pic of Jordan and I with our matching sunnies!

There were a couple of little touches that made the wedding so special and unique.  After the couple’s first dance, they had the bride and father dance, bride and mother dance, and groom and mother dance.  They started the dances out, and after a little bit, the groomsmen brought their mothers out to the dance floor to join the groom and his mother.  The same happened with the ladies.  The bridesmaids brought their mothers out onto the dance floor to join Haley and her mother.  I thought that was a special touch, showing how close their families all are.  They also had a dance to recognize and honor the couple that has been married the longest.  They had all married couples start a dance, and slowly the DJ asked couples to stay dancing if they have been married for X amount of time.  He kept announcing amounts of time until they revealed a couple that has been married for 60 + years.  That was so great!

Just one more pic to share.  I am with the lovely Lauren.  She was the Chapter President for 2013, and is also a newlywed!

Haley and Bobby’s wedding was a beautiful celebration of love.  I was so honored to be a part of their special day!

Have a great week!

Cheersies!

Summer 2014

It is here!  Summer Break 2014!  While I have technically been on summer vacation for 3 days already, I feel like this is my first day.  I have been dog and house sitting for my two sisters since Thursday evening.  My entire family is in Denver, CO right now for a soccer tournament.

So if you do the math:

3 Yorkies (My Lola and Brinkely, and Suzy’s Scruffy)

+ 1 GSP Morgen

+ 1 Cutie Mutt Liesl

______________

5 Pups!!!

I am the lucky one to dog sit for 5 dogs.  Yes, 5!

I have been staying at my sister, Adrienne’s house, since Thursday night.  She has two pups, Morgen, a German Short-haired Pointer, and Liesl, a little bit of everything!  I also have my other sister Suzy’s Yorkie Scruffy, spending the long weekend with me too.  That is a lot of dogs!  I love dogs, but, whew!  I appreciate the simple life with my 2 darlings.  There is no way I can take all the dogs on a walk at the same time, so I have been taking 2 walks a day.  This could be a great lifestyle change for me! LOL!  Teacher turned dog walker.

When the initial craziness and excitement dies down, the dogs all get along pretty well.  I don’t think Morgen and Liesl realize how big they are.  They love to play and don’t understand why the 3 yorkies are a bit terrified of them.  All in all, it was a good weekend.

This is Morgen, the GSP, and she thinks she is a lapdog.  She loves to lounge on top of me.

It really didn’t feel like a vacation yet while I was staying at Adrienne’s house.  Now I am at my house with my 2 babes and Scruffy.  It feels like a break now.  Waking up in my bed, sipping my delish coffee + Coffee Mate Cafe Mocha creamer, and the Today Show.  I love summer!  Here’s to 3 weeks off until summer school!

I’m starting a June Photo Challenge.  Hopefully it will last longer than my last photo challenge!  (The last one was only 4 days!  Yikes!)

June Photo Challenge

I found this on Pinterest.  I hope to stick with it.  Keep me accountable!

Have a wonderful Memorial Day!  May God bless all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom, and God bless their families and friends.

Photog Challenge Day 4 and Pi Beta Phi Founders’ Day ’12

In 1867 they created Pi Phi Heaven! What a wonderful day today is in Pi Phi land! We had a wonderful brunch at Hotel Albuquerque, hosted by the Albuquerque Alumnae Club. What made the day even more special was a speech given by Alex Beach, survivor of the Costa Concordia (Italian cruise ship that sank) who just happens to be the Pi Phi Queen.

Two of my pledge sistas!  Jamie and Allie

With my little sister Sara.

And last, but not least, my photo challenge of the day: Jewelry!  What better piece of jewelry to use today on our Founders’ Day?  This is the Advisor badge that has been handed down to me during my term as AAC Chairman.  It has wine and silver blue jewels, which are, of course, our Fraternity’s colors.

30 Day Photography Challenge- Day 2 and 3

Day 2’s challenge was to take a photo of a window. This photo was taken on Easter looking at a reflection of my beautiful niece Alyssa.  She was a great subject to shoot!  She is a Freshman in high school right now and is absolutely GORG!!!

Day 3’s Challenge is to take a photo of a clock.  I took a picture of my favorite clock during my favorite time of day.  Closing time!!  Well, the time I am finally released from my prison- called After School Programs.  Image

I’ll post more pictures from our Easter and a field trip we took to the Aquarium.

My 30 Day Photography Challenge

I was in a delightful conversation with a colleague the other day about our lives outside of school.  She asked me a very simple question: What are your hobbies?  I didn’t have an answer.  Me, the one who can keep a conversation going.  The one who has an answer to everything.  I couldn’t answer.  I stumbled around with my words, until I said running.  Now let’s face it.  I don’t run because I thoroughly enjoy it.  I run to stay in shape.  (whatever shape that may be)

I have been asked this before.  I just don’t have hobbies.  I don’t scrapbook, draw, write, or collect things.  (unless you’re counting dust)  Since then, I’ve tried to come up with some ideas for a new hobby.  I also need a hobby that is fairly cheap.  This is supposed to be a rewarding hobby, not a money stealer.

I have been toying around with the idea of photography.  I always see friends of mine who post their 30-Day Photography Challenges on Facebook.  So I have considered it carefully and looked at my options.  I have an iPhone 3G with no flash, and let’s face it, not the best camera.  I have an old Samsung something-or-other that I bought hastily before my friend’s wedding in Mexico.  So, after much deliberation, and asking a few friends, I made my investment in a Cannon G12.  It’s an awesome camera.  Or so I’m told by the very nice lady at Best Buy.

So here it is: Day 1- Flower

This flower was part of one of my mother’s centerpieces for Easter.  Yes, that is fresh basil in the basket.

Shufflin’

My most lackluster student quite fancies the song “Party Rock Anthem.” He loves it so much that he will sing out in the middle of class “everyday I’m shufflin” and will proceed to “shufflin.”

As we head out to recess today, he comes running back to me saying “Dante” bumped into him and “stopped my shufflin!” He was so distraught! I began to sing his theme song for him so he could continue his dance.  He looked up at me with the saddest eyes and said “Teacher, he bumped it out of me.”

And he walked away.

Head hung low.

Don’t feel too bad for him. Later that day, he was caught shufflin….in the bathroom…….making soap monsters. He must have gotten it back.
